Enrol on the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification at Barrow Park Leisure Centre

Become a Lifeguard and gain an excellent start to a career in leisure!

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland, and is also internationally recognised. Barrow Park Leisure Centre is pleased to be able to offer this course. The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification course is a minimum of 36 hours, followed by a practical assessment on swimming pool theory, water safety and how to spot potential hazards. The course will teach you the practical skills of lifeguarding, such as water rescue, casualty recovery, CPR and first aid.

Course Details:

Date: Sunday 10th – Thursday 14th April 2022
Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm every day
Exam: TBC
Cost: £240 per person
Spaces: 12 maximum
Age: 16+

Daily Itinerary:

08:00 – 09:00am Lifeguard theory
09:00 – 09:15am Break to get changed
09:15 – 11:15am Practical in the pool
11.15 – 11:30am Break to get changed/snack
11:30 – 12:30pm  Lifeguard Theory
12:30 – 1:00pm Lunch
1:00 – 3:00pm First Aid
3:00 – 3:15pm Break
3:15 – 5:00pm CPR

The course starts promptly at 9am on Sunday to Thursday. Attendants will need to bring drinks and snacks, lunch with them.

Will my child’s Swimming lessons stay the same day and time?

Yes, in the transfer all lessons will stay the same however they may change slightly in the future 

Will there be any changes to the swimming and class timetable?

No, there will not be any changes to the timetables for swimming or classes during this period however there may be small changes in the future 

Will there be any refurbishments within the centre particularly the wet changing rooms?

We are aware of the need to update the wet changing rooms. We will be working work to get these updated as soon as we can but do not have a date of when this will happen. 

Where will the profits go?

Barrow Forward Ltd is a Not for profit organisation so if profits are made then they will be put back into the centre 

Will the staff be keeping their jobs?

Yes

Will the gym kit stay the same?

Yes, all equipment currently in the centre will be staying
